They specialize in quick attacks and blocking opponent hitters, playing a vital role in both front-row offense and defense. Their role can often determine a team’s success, particularly in high-level matches where blocking and fast attacks are key.

    • Defense: Primary blocker, responsible for closing blocks against both outside and opposite hitters.

    • Offense: Executes quick attacks (e.g., "one" or "slide" sets) to exploit gaps in the opponent’s block.

    • Transition Play: Must quickly shift from blocking to attacking, requiring excellent reflexes.

    • Requirements: Tall stature, explosive jumping ability, quick footwork, strong hand positioning, and good court awareness.
